More info... By Dynamic Blue Link
For people living in Hong Kong, and a holiday to Thailand, in the old days was easy and cheap to do. I hold delightful recollections of those days.
We could easily hop on a flight on Friday night and stay until Sunday evening. It was only 2 hours from Hong Kong to Bangkok, and an extra 1 to 2 hours, depending on the beach we chose.
Even Bangkok was fun. The thrill of the rowdy city and its glorious markets made such a difference from polluted.
We had it so easy back in the 80s. Even as teenagers still taking our A levels, we managed to raise enough money for the very cheap tickets to Thailand. We put a group of mates together and hurried away to Thailand for the weekend.
20 years ago, much of Europe and America had a harder time to travel to Thailand. Non-stop air travel from there were still not available.
For that reason, we had beaches of Thailand by ourselves. Relaxing on the
crystal, soft sand, our 2 days in wonderful Thailand were used up accomplishing no more than rest and a few dips in the blue Pacific.
My friend travelled in Thailand in 2004 when the tsunami punched the air out of the country. My friend recollects mere details of that painful day. But my friend does remember how the wonderful folk did everything to aid everyone they could. The people of Thailand who were left without even a home intact, offered their clothes to the astounded sightseers.
This says everything about the people. This says it all about Thailand. It is, nonetheless, heavenly in our world, in spite of the crisis.
