| PERTH |
The capital of Western Australia. Splendid
garden city, nearly always sunny. A little bit of California. |
| CERVANTES |
And the National Park of Nambung with the World's famous Pinnacles.
A multitude of strange vertical stones carved out by erosion,
several metres high on a bright yellow soil, impressive looking
when admired by sunset. |
| KALBARRI |
A quaint fishing village standing close
to the Murchison Gorges full of colourful parrots and cormorants,
surrounded by magnificient cliffs. A good place to eat fish. |
| MONKEY MIA |
Where you can see dolphins swimming freely
close to the beach every morning.
One spot in Australia where it is possible to admire dugongs
in their natural habitat. |
| CORAL BAY |
A spot in the Western Coast line where the
coral reef is the closest. LIke off the Queensland coast with
the Barrier Reef, the Western Coast line has a coral reef as
rich and beautiful and close to the shore where we can swim
and enjoy the beauty of it. |
| TOM PRICE |
Typical mining town of Western Australia.
A lot of atmosphere to enjoy in the evening. The city commands
the entrance to Karijini National Park, though which we drive,
a marvel of gorges and natural water pools, very typical of
the Australian background. |
| Mt. AUGUSTUS |
The biggest single stone in the world. 1112
metres high and bigger than Ayers Rock, but not well known because
more difficult to reach.
A fabulous sight to admire in the evening at sunset. |
| NEWMAN |
Another mining town at the extreme North-East
of our safari. It is a different itinerary from Mt. Augustus
and a better one to explore further the National Park of Karijini. |
| WOGARNO |
A typical Australian "sheep station",
70 000 hectares with more than 5000 heads of cattle. The comfort
is not always the best but it is so Australian, not to be missed.
Our hosts will do everything they can to make our stay the best
possible. |
| SYDNEY |
The biggest and the most impressive city
in Australia. It has to be seen. |
The itinerary has been chosen in order to have
the maximum typical places to see or visit, Western Australia is full
of typical Australian Scenery, more so than in any other state. We
also manage to include a maximum of track roads to make the driving
as adventurous as possible without making it dangerous. The beautiful
western coast line enables the participants to enjoy swimming any
time they wish. The rally is a great adventure of sport driving and
nature loving.
The
organizers can modify the itinerary and the programme of the rally
at any time depending on the circumstances and events. It is important
to keep it safe.
There will always be a choice of routes for each
leg, everyone can adapt the driving to his or her own liking.
The only important thing is to get to the finishing line on time
for the evening. It is not a race, it is a rally.
As a consequence each participant can make-up his own programme
for the day, or simply follow the plan worked out by the organizers.
A briefing will take place before the start of each
leg. The maps will be supplied free of charge. It is advised to
bring a compass. A GPS is also an advantage although not entirely
necessary.
Distances are enormous in Australia (Australia alone
is as big as Europe). A little track on the map can mean hours of
driving and sometimes through rugged and deserted difficult bush
land country.
We are not driving through deserts like in Africa,
Australia has few deserts but on the contrary a lot of bushy and
thorny flat land. We will never go through dangerous areas.
The first part of the rally follows the beautiful coast line of
the Indian Ocean. The second part of the rally goes on the contrary
through the inner land and present a totally different aspect. Each
stop-over is different from the next thus enabling the participants
to get a real concentrated picture of what Australia is like.
The stop-over at Monkey Mia is particulary interesting with the
visit to Hamelin Pool and its world's famous "Stromatolites".
Also Shell Bay, an immense and white beach formed exclusively with
small tiny shells.
Hotels and motels are always the best possible available.
The welcome given by the locals is always warm.
Australian are an easy going people. Good will and hospitality are
the rules.
A follow-up vehicle will control the rally and make
sure that nothing goes wrong. A local bush ranger with 20 years
experience in the bush, will drive it. The 4WD vehicles used are
specially built for Australian conditions, with extra fuel tanks
and extra protection bumpers.
In order to have a nice and compact group of participants,
we have limited the number of vehicles to 15.
The
registration form will be sent to you.
